SEEDS (Self Employment and Entrepreneur Development Society) is based in British Columbia, Canada, and provides business start up assitance and training.

The requirement was for a "corporate look" and a site that could incorporate a lot of information and graphics together with interactivity.

The site has been built in HTML with the use of PHP and MySQL databases to drive a business directory and events calendar, both of which are managed by full content management systems. Business owners visiting the site are invited to register their business details for inclusion in the business directory. Their details go into a "holding area" until such time that they have been approved by SEEDS staff.

Content management means that the site owners can log in to a "back office" area where they can make changes to the information displayed on the site in real time. It requires no technical knowledge to administer and provides the ability to do the following things:

• Edit and update the calendar of events displayed on the site
• Approve new additions to the business directory before they become live
• Edit the content of the business postings
• De-active (or activate) business listings in real time
