Nesta Futurelab brings together together creative, technical and educational communities, to pioneer ways of using new technologies to transform the learning experience.

PLD was asked to create, design, develop and program a password controlled member's area. This was achieved by working closely with the Nesta Futurelab team to produce a completely bespoke solution.

The invited members can log into the area, and amend a profile about themselves together with pictures if they wish. They can network with all the other users, and download key documents specifically provided for them.

They are also able to use a brand new message board system programmed entirely by PLD, which has all the usual mesage board functionality, but programmed to dovetail perfectly with the established design and layout provided.

Full content management of the member's area was given to Nesta Futurelab, so that the administrator can amend the site content at will and as often as is required. The full administrative suite gives full control over messages posted to the message board, documents uploaded and untimately to create new members amend details or delete existing ones.

The finished project was put in place on Nesta Futurelab's own server and the supporting database was built in situ by PLD.

The project has now been extended to include a multiple database version of the community, selectable by the users, with permissions granted by the system administrators.
