The College of Practical Nurses British Columbia is the main registration and professional body for Licensed Practical Nurses in the Province. It currently manages approximately 7000 nurses.

The existing web site comprised a huge number of pages, which required constant adjustment and updating. PLD was asked to provide a fully content managed site so that the CLPNBC could look after its own site content itself, without external assistance.

The CLPN also wanted to make their Licensed Practical Nurse database available on line.

Private areas were required for internal communication

A custom built internal message board system was also required for permitted site visitors

The feature list for this site is extensive, but to summarise CLPNBC has the ability to:-

• Make all site alterations using a simple control panel accessed from anywhere using any web browser.
• Add and remove pages at will. It can create sub pages within pages, and sub sub pages within the sub pages. That is three levels of automatic navigation. All the pages and sub pages are included in the navigation system automatically, and in a programmatically generated site map page. So no adjustments are needed to navigation or the site map.
• Suspend and reinstate pages at any level of the structure (the navigation and site map automatically adjusts)
• Add or remove images from any page at any level of the navigation structure.
• Upload, add or remove documents to be made available for download from any of the pages at any level.
• Change any page text no matter where, with a simple "text entry" page.
• Alter the order in which the pages are displayed, and also the order of the second and third level pages within a main page.
• Use a full text search within the whole site
• Edit the page names appearing in the main and internal page menus.
• Use extensive formatting within the page text, so that for example, hyperlinks are created automatically, bulleted lists are available, bold, underline and so on.
• Alter the content of their online database whenever they need to.
• Grant and revoke access by individual to private areas.

This is an extensive project and it has been a pleasure to work with the CLPNBC to deliver their required site.
