Regular site maintenance and updating is so very important these days, that you may be interested in the type of web site you can update yourself with no technical knowledge. Having built many content managed sites to client specifications, we have now decided to take the best elements from all of them and make a dedicated content management product. Low cost content management! We have now completed development work on a content managed site product which is available for use by clients of PLD which can be given your own identity and look, but which involves no 'bespoke' development work. This means that the costs can be kept right down, and we can have your site ready for you to start adding content, simply and quickly in next to no time. Note: PLD has now enhanced the programing behind the content managed web site to dovetail successfully with Google Adwords campaigns.

Hosting

We can offer excellent hosting arrangements on servers located in the impressive Globval Switch datacentre, London. Alternatively we have on many occasions worked with client's own servers, both in a shared server environment and within a company intranet.

Internet Programming

We are not simply web designers; if you have a more advanced project in mind, we are able to provide programming for projects that go way beyond simple web pages, including such things as original message boards, databases for employee records, stock control, maintenance schedules - if you have an idea do call us for a quotation. Whilst a custom built program may sound a little extravagant for your requirements, such programs can regularly outperform products bought 'off the shelf' over the internet, and can be very cost effective.

For example, we have recently programmed a large database driven project for a Canadian client, which has simplified their back office procedures around maintenance, renewals, contractor controls and internal communication. PLD is experienced in providing professional solutions using PHP and MySQL. Also PLD has provided clients with extensive projects relying on Javascript, tested in all modern web browsers with Apple Mac computers as well as PCs.

Consultancy

PLD has provided consultancy services to local businesses and worked to support them with specialist programming to augment an existing web site. PLD has also been invloved extensively with BRAVE (Bristol and Avon Enterprise Agency) providing consultancy support to business start ups and lecturing on web design, programming, and the commercial use of the internet to those attending business start up courses.
We have progressed to doing small "ring fenced" pieces of programming to fit in with exitsitn web site structures, as a result of consultancy work.

Recently PLD has been subcontracted to supply a number of different things, ranging from graphic design to e-commerce modules, to Macromedia Flash actionscript programming.

E-commerce

Shopping carts: we have come across several instances of clients attempting to use shopping carts that have been bought as a "one size suits all" solution. All of these carts require correct installation and setting up with the approved card processor. In some instances an incorrect installation can lead to search engine invisibility for products, so do beware. At PLD we can provide custom programmed shopping carts, built by us exactly to your specification or need with an exact and seamless integration with your existing site, where we manage the whole project. We have implemented cart systems with different card processors, notably most recently with www.protx.com, www.worldpay.com and www.paypal.com.

We can also program and install custom purchase (and client) tracking mechanisms with database stored records of all your on-line sales and clients.

Overseas work

A significant amount of work has been completed for clients outside the UK so we can truly say that we can still offer high performance, even where face to face contact is out of the question. We are very approachable and happy to discuss any of your ideas, no matter how large or small.
